WELCOME TO ALOHA SHARES NETWORK

Aloha Shares Network (ASN) is a program managed by Maui Recycling Group, Inc.

808-268-4380 Email: recycle@alohashares.org

The ASN mission is to keep good, usable material out of Maui's landfill and get this material into the hands of our nonprofits, churches, and schools, and the community at large.  We accomplish this by developing relationships with community  nonprofit organizations, churches, or schools registered in the State of Hawaii.  Donations of material are accepted from anyone in our community, including businesses, organizations, individuals, and government agencies. Recipients must be non-profit organizations if the donor requires a tax receipt.   -note: ASN does not provide tax receipts.

ASN solicits donations of all kinds, as long as they are in good, clean, working condition. Items that require mending, cleaning, or repair are not accepted for listing in Aloha Shares Network.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does ASN pick up your donation?
We match your donation  with  a recipient and they contact you to arrange pick up.
Is there a charge for ASN services?
No, there is no charge to either the donor or the recipient for the service offered by ASN. The donor may not charge the recipient for the items donated.
What are the benefits of participating in Aloha Shares Network?
Island landfills receive less waste. Hawaii's nonprofit organizations, churches, and schools get good, usable material they need, without using their limited funds for it. Donors of the material avoid charges for hauling, storage, and disposal, and receive a receipt for tax purposes if the donor requires one and the item is donated to a nonprofit, church or school.

Buddha and Recession..

Buddha, one day, was in deep thought about the worldly activities and ways of instilling goodness in humans. Following is the text of a conversation between him and his disciple.

One of the disciples approached him and said humbly “Oh my teacher!

while you are so much concerned about the world and others, why don’t you look into the welfare and needs of your own disciples also”.

Buddha: …Tell me how I can help you?

Disciple: Master, my attire is worn out and beyond the decency to wear. Can I get a new one please?

Buddha found the robe indeed was in a bad condition & needed replacing. He asked the store keeper to give the disciple a new robe.

The disciple thanked Buddha and retired to his room.

Though he met his disciple’s requirement, Buddha was not content with his decision. He realized he missed out on something.

A while after he realized what he should have asked the disciple.

He went to his disciple’s place and asked him “Is your new attire comfortable? Do you need anything more?”

Disciple: Thank you my Master. The attire is indeed very comfortable. I need nothing more.

Buddha: Having got the new one, what did you do with your old attire?

Disciple: I am using it as my bedspread.

Buddha: I hope you have disposed of your bed spread.

Disciple: No…no…Master. I am using my old bedspread as my window curtain.

Buddha: What about your old curtain?

Disciple: It's being used to handle hot utensils in the kitchen.

Buddha: Oh…I see…can you tell me what they did with the old cloth they used in kitchen?

Disciple: They are being used to wash the floor.

Buddha: Then the old rug that was used to wash the floor…?

Disciple: Master, since they were so torn we could not find any better use but to use as a twig in the oil lamp, which is right now lit in your study room….

Buddha smiled in contentment and left for his room.
